Could you investigate the option to create additional functionality around the FTP component in CDATA?
FTP sources are regularly used in BI solutions to import data as part of the total execution flow. It has no use as a datasource component the way it is now, but when adding it as part of an execution package, it can be of great use!
This way, you don't have to create seperate SSIS packages for this and managing all execution in 1 tool is a great plus!
