It would be great to be able to run data profiling on tables from within Discovery Hub.

Hi Sigurður,

Certain profiling tasks can be done through the use of the preview window and query tool, or automated using data validation.

Did you have any tasks in mind that you've not been able to handle this way?

Best regards,

Doug Wynkoop

Running a profile report on a table with completeness profile, statistical distribution of values,  referential integrity check for joined tables (1st level only), Primary key profile, value distribution, etc. would be quite a good and extremely useful addition.

+1 Agree it could optimize the time used in the early stages of the data modelling!

Thanks, Sigurður!

Having these use cases will be very helpful for our product management and R&D teams in understanding the need for this feature.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide this additional information!

Best regards,

Doug Wynkoop

Hi Sigurður

Thanks for submitting your ideas. Your continued feedback on our product is very important to us. And so is your engagement in our community.

I have passed your input to our R&D department for further evaluation.

At the time of this posting, the current product roadmap is focused on a major evolution in foundational pieces of our software including splitting the development into ODX, MDW, Semantic Layer, and User Portal. With this evolution, we will continue to see incredible innovation in the product that may exceed your expectations or make the need for this feature obsolete, as I know that profiling is a product feedback we've gotten a lot, and therefore it has been discussed in the product council.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss further.

Thanks!
