Hello TimeXtender Team,

we have a lot of queries regarding the connection with the Theobald IS DELTAQ functionality, this is a much needed feature on DiscoveryHub! Unfortunately the way through SSDT is often a rather daunting option.
Is there already a plan to implement this or all Theobald IS functions in the DiscoveryHub?

Regards

Hello TX Team,

this is something very important for us.

We have two larger companies evaluation Discovery Hub at the moment. Both are switching from SAP Business Warehouse to a SQL solution.

They already have lots of Business Logic prepared in their SAP Standard Extractors which they still want to use. Integrated Xtract IS DeltaQ is a must for them.

It is also very important to provide the functionality of Xtract IS Report and Xtract IS BAPI to grant that a migration from SAP BW to TimeXtender can be done without compromises.

Providing a fully integrated Theobald Connector could be one of the main selling points in future.

Be aware that we see other customers thinking of moving from SAP Business Warehouse to a SQL solution. Not just because the old non HANA BW solutions will run out of support within the next years but also because a SQL Datawarehouse is much more agile and allows you easier implementation of analytics services and other data related tools.

Hi all,

How we solved this in the past...

for one of our customers we setup a small SSIS project executing before the main Discovery Hub project.  This SSIS project is handling the extraction using Xtract IS DeltaQ (which requires parameters to be passed through) into a Landing Zone database on SQL.  This Landing Zone DB is then used as a data source in Discovery Hub.

Using this work-around we didn't have to write customized code for the SSIS packages generated by Discovery Hub.

Best regards,

Peter

I was looking for more information regarding a connector and then came across this post.

The Xtract IS DeltaQ connector is now available in TimeXtender:

Is this only available when using the ODX server?

Yes is only available for ODX server.

The good news is that the ODX server can be combined with the Business Unit.

Hi, can someone explain me what DeltaQ exactly does of send me a link with the explanation? As I cannot find information about it and it looks that it is something we can use to work around the incremental loading that doesn't work properly for us.

Hi Sven,

DeltaQ is source-side delta generation in SAP.

It needs to be configured in the source system for each table you want to delta-load from.

Once it is set up, new records for these tables are marked in a way that only the increment can be extracted.

You can find some more info from Theobald (not much though) here: Xtract DeltaQ | Theobald Online Help (theobald-software.com)

and here: Defining a DeltaQ Extraction | Theobald Online Help (theobald-software.com)

Out of the box (as far as that exists in the SAP world) there are some datasources like 0FI_GL_04 (BSEG + BKPF) that can be loaded incrementally through Theobald Xtract IS DeltaQ without much extra hassle. If you have access to SAP documentation you should be able to find a list of Data Sources that are "standard".
